Question by Bigred: Windows Mobile Anti virus?
Hey,
I’m planning on purchasing the new HTC 6900 on the Verizon network. This is my first smart phone, but not my first windows mobile device. I have had a ipaq for a year or two now. Anyways, since I am getting a new windows mobile device, I decided to look into some software that I can buy for it. I have found that there is a lot of anti virus software around for windows mobile. Is it really necessary? I do not plan on going to untrustworthy sites with the internet and I only run software from reputable sources.
Thanks!
Btw, if you could recommend any software, whether it be anti virus or not, that would be cool. I’m really excited about getting it and I would like to use it to its full potential. I never really installed software onto my ipaq. I just used it for portable word documents and what not.

You don’t really need an anti-virus software for it. There is only one proof-of-concept virus (for instance, it asks for permission before infecting) and a couple of Trojan horses for Windows Mobile – and you’re extremely unlikely to encounter either in the real world.
The malware programs that can infect your PC when browsing the Web do not work on Windows Mobile devices. You must pay more attention when connecting to WiFi hotspots and beware of malicious ones that try to sniff your connection. Use only VPN and HTTPS for sensitive connections – like connecting to your office or your bank.
